Greenbiz reports a new study on carbon offsets called “The Forest Carbon Offsetting Survey 2009.” This study samples 120 corporations and 21 carbon market companies. It is sponsored by EcoSecurities, Conservation International, The Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance, and Climatebiz.com. The study focuses on corporate attitudes on forestry carbon offsets. Among the offset buyers surveyed, 90% avoid deforestation & reforestation projects, 81% avoid agroforestry and 75% avoid peatland conservation. Only 40% consider commercial tree planting attractive.
